He is also known for his Testament of Man Series, which was written in the 1940s and 1950s and includes twelve titles. Vardis Fisher was born on March 31, 1895 in Annis, ID. His novel, Mountain Man, was made into the Sydney Pollack film, Jeremiah Johnson. He attended the University of Utah and the University of Chicago. He was later an assistant professor of English at both the University of Utah and New York University.
